I have received the following queries from reviewers of the information
regarding possible toxicity of GM potatoes which I would be very grateful
for clarification on. I have also faxed the questions to the Rowett Research
Institute for their response. If you think that I should address these
queries to someone else please let me know. I would be very grateful if you
could acknowledge receipt of this e mail as our computer system has been
experiencing some problems lately. I would also be very grateful if I could
have your views on the queries as soon as possible so that I can feed them

Questions from Reviewers of information on possible toxicity of GM Potatoes

With regard to the document 'Response of the Audit Committee to Dr Arpad
Pusztai's Alternative Report of 22 October 1998'

1. Please could you clarify if the statistical analyses relate to the
control data - was the GM potato outcome significantly different from the
relative comparison group? For example, in table 2 of the above document,
was the final BW in the last column (raw potato, transgenic 3) significantly
different from raw potato (parent) and spike 3 and/or raw potato (parent) 3.
If so, this suggests a specific effect of the transgene and its construct to
increase body weight.

2. In Table 1 of the above document please clarify what the Control
consisted of.
